Hello again, crusaders! It is the end of the month, the end of summer, and publishers rolled out quite a few books this week, as everyone prepares for the Fall season in media. This week was very entertaining, and as the list below shows there was a good mix of style and content in what I read and enjoyed. Here are my highlights:

(w) Peter Timony (a) Bobby Timony Monkeybrain Comics, 0.99 Available at comixology

“Detectobot #1″: Actually, go ahead and pick up the zero issue, because its free and sets the tone for the first issue. This series has alot of possibility—good pace, appealing artwork, humor, and a fascinating probelm that will eventually lead to a confrontation of the question If you knew you would die when you served your purpose, would you go through with the task?.

Doctor Who: Prisoners of Time #8 (w) David Tipton, Scott Tipton (a) Roger Langridge IDW Publising, $3.99

IDW Publising, $3.99

“Doctor Who: Prisoners of Time #8″: Roger Langridge (hooray!) returns to draw the eighth doctor, the only incarnation of the long running character to exist primarily outside of television (except for one adventure). Such a fact drives fans like me to want to go bin diving to discover an untapped chapter of the mythology before pressing on to the modern day doctors.

The Massive #15 (w) Brain Wood (a) Garry Brown (c) Dave Stewart Dark Horse Comics, $3.50

Dark Horse Comics, $3.50

“The Massive # 15″: Wood scores again this week, this time bringing a genuine turn and Oh really!? moment that may influence the rest of this eco-apocalypse series.

Station to Station (one-shot) (w) Corrina Beckho, Gabriel Hardman (a) Gabriel Hardman Dark Horse Comics, $2.99

Dark Horse Comics, $2.99

Station to Station: This one-shot out of the pages of Dark Horse Presents is a Twilight Zone episode with satisfying creature design. Even with some spotty narrative moments, fans of golden age sci-fi will enjoy this.

(w/a) Various Black Mask Studios, $3.50

“Occupy Comics #3″: This anthology series comes to a close still not pulling a punch and representing numerous viewpoints and perspectives on the political, economic, and socio-cultural problems in America 2013. As strong a statement on real-world civil disobedience as you will find in a comic shop.

Mind MGMT #14 (w/a) Matt Kindt Dark Horse Comics, $3.99

(w/a) Matt Kindt
Dark Horse Comics, $3.99

“Mind MGMT #14″: Aztec-like temples, mindwalkers as dream messengers, and Kindt’s sense of narrative aesthetic exhibit strengths in another installment of what we now know is a series with an endgame.

Wow, so six titles this week out of the pile on my desk (and desktop) is not too shabby. If you would like to add to this list of titles please do so either in the comment section below, over at our Facebook page, or hashtag us in a message over on Twitter. Till next time folks—happy reading!
